Solaris vs Linux
Maybe we'll have soon an OpenSolaris released as open source software, as Eric Schrock explain us in his blog.
That seems to be good news. He also tells us why Sun does want to keep Solaris and not go only with Linux. And here is the answer from a linux kernel developer, Greg Kroah-Hartman. Then an answer from Eric Schrock, and an other one from Greg :)
A least, this was interesting to read ...

computers history
Yesterday I dowloaded and watched a video about computers history.
That was pretty interesting and funny to see thoses old computers and how everything was 10 or 20 years before :)
They talk about IBM, Apple, Microsoft, Oracle, Lotus, Visicalc, etc ... However they forgot to talk about Linux, free software and the futur of computers, maybe they didn't know yet :) (it's an old documentary, I think 6 or 7 years old)
You can dowload it here (in french only, sorry I don't have the original version) : 1, 2, 3.

And a new website
I'm thinking about openning a new website soon. It will be called linuxrulez.info and it will be a wiki about Linux in general. At the moment I'm looking at what might be the best wiki for this. I looked at plone and zope (this is big), tikiwiki and moinmoin, but I don't know yet (moinmoin semms to be the most simple and easiest to maintain).

A new weblog
mycroft has created a new weblog. It's called infolog (in french), and it is a community weblog about computers and anything related to them. I might post something on it sometimes. But I don't really like the colors so I'm looking at what rss parser I could use to get the news from it and put them on a nanoblogger blog. To create something like a mirror and have my own archive of all the posts :) Maybe something like this aldready exist so I'll look at it first.

Armory
While browsing the web, I found this website : armory.com (yes, I put some links on my weblog so that I can remember them later).
This is funny, an old system running since 1994, with a lot of user accounts. A little like sdf.lonestar.org, or cyberspace.org.
I just created an account on deathrow.vistech.net, an OpenVMS cluster. And I will learn how to use OpenVMS, it can be fun :)
