IM and open standards

Google just released Google Talk, their new IM service. But instead of using a proprietary protocol like MSN, ICQ or Yahoo, they choosed to use the Jabber/XMPP protocol. This mean that we can use whatever jabber client we want to connect on google talk. The only problem is that they did not enable server-to-server communications (or only for some selected servers). I hope they'll change that !
And some day, maybe peoople will stop using MSN and their closed protocol ...
